We Review Expensive Toys So You Don't Waste Money
No sponsored posts. No manufacturer freebies. Just honest reviews of luxury toys from people who buy them with their own money.
Why ToysForRich Exists
Here's the problem with luxury toys: A $500 LEGO set looks the same as a $50 knockoff in product photos. You don't know if a $300 Hot Toys figure is worth it until you've unboxed it. And nobody wants to drop $850 on the UCS Millennium Falcon without knowing if it's actually good.
That's where we come in.
We started ToysForRich because we got tired of reading fake reviews. You know the ones - "This product is amazing! 5 stars!" with no actual details. Or worse, sponsored reviews where the reviewer got the product for free and won't say anything negative.
We buy every product ourselves at full retail price. We test them for weeks. We compare them to alternatives. Then we tell you honestly whether they're worth the money or just overpriced hype.
If a $600 RC car performs the same as a $300 model, we'll tell you. If a $400 LEGO set will appreciate 50% in value, we'll show you the data. And if something is genuinely worth the premium price, we'll explain exactly why.
How We Review Products
We Buy Everything
Every product we review is purchased at full retail price with our own money. No manufacturer samples, no press units, no "influencer discounts." If we're reviewing a $500 product, we paid $500.
Real-World Testing
We test products for 1-3 weeks minimum. RC cars get driven until the battery dies. LEGO sets get fully built and displayed. Drones get flown in multiple conditions. We measure everything we can.
Data-Driven Analysis
We don't just say "battery life is good" - we measure 42 minutes. We read hundreds of Amazon reviews to identify common problems. We track secondary market prices to assess investment value.
Honest Writing
If something sucks, we say so. If it's worth the premium price, we explain why. If there's a cheaper alternative that's 90% as good, we'll recommend that instead. We optimize for your wallet, not ours.
Our Business Model (Full Transparency)
How we make money: We're part of the Amazon Associates affiliate program. When you click our links and buy a product on Amazon, we earn a small commission (typically 1-3% of the purchase price). It doesn't cost you anything extra - Amazon pays us from their margin.
Why this matters: Our revenue depends on you making a purchase, but it doesn't matter which product you buy. We make the same 2% whether you buy the $300 product or the $600 one. This means we have no incentive to push expensive products - we just want you to buy something you won't return.
What we don't do:
- Accept payment from manufacturers for reviews
- Use affiliate links for products we haven't personally tested
- Recommend products just because they have higher commissions
- Delete negative reviews or edit them after publishing
We also run Google AdSense ads on the site. Those annoying banners help cover hosting costs. But our reviews are never influenced by advertisers.
Who We Are
We're a small team of toy collectors, parents, and hobbyists who got tired of wasting money on overpriced products. We're not professional journalists or influencers - just regular people who happen to spend way too much money on luxury toys.
Our combined expertise: 25+ years collecting LEGO, 15+ years in the RC hobby, kids who've destroyed hundreds of cheap toys, and more wasted money on bad purchases than we'd like to admit. That experience is what makes our reviews valuable.
